SEGA's Megadrive/Genesis Remembered

Up until the release of the SEGA Mega Drive (SEGA Genesis in the US). Nintendo and its NES console had a vice-lioke grip on the home console and videogame market. Having failed to make any major impact with its superior 8-bit Master System,  SEGA decided to go for the jugular by releasing a substantially more powerful console, the Mega Drive. The 16bit console only sold moderately well in its native Japan, but in the US and European markets the machine went down a storm; thanks in no small part to some great coin-up conversions and polished sports sims. lt's arguable that the Mega Drive effectively forced Nintendo into bringing forward its successor to the Famicom/NES, as without any competition the Japanese giant could have sat back and let the money roll in from its still-popular 8-bit system. If nothing else, the Mega Drive showed that Nintendo was not a untouchable and its release effectively heralded the beginning of the console wars that are still raging today.

SNES - The World's Greatest Console Remembered

For many, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (or SNES to most of us) was, and remains, the best console ever released - the successor to the NES and direct combatant of the 16-bit wonder, the Megadrive. Launched in Japan on 21 November 1990 (it hit the US in September 1991 and in Europe in April 1992) along with the highly anticipated Super Mario World and F-zero another classic in the making. In Japan alone, demand for the new console rose to near fever pitch so much so that Nintendo have to deliver the shipment of consoles at night for fear that the rumours that Yakuza gangs might hijack the lorries to sell the consoles on the black market would prove true.

Shenmue 2 (Xbox) Review

Microsoft needed exclusive games for Xbox, that was a basic factor when the company first unveiled its plans to enter the console market. But even with its seems.guy motionless moneybox, many were surprised when the company revealed that Shenmue 2 would be coming exclusively to Xbox in the US thanks to a deal struck with SEGA.

Shenmue 3 Kickstarter

Shenmue... A game that touched many peoples hearts was released for the Sega Dreamcast back in 1999. Since then the game has become infamous for the tragically cut short story that was planned to continue for a lot longer after Shenmue 2 was released. The fans cries and pleas seem to fall on deaf ears when discussing the possibility of Shenmue 3 being released.
